Dear Parents and Students,

As-Salamu Alaykum and Ramadan Kareem!

We are immensely grateful to share with you the successes of the Olive Tree Study Ramadan charity drive for 2023. With your unwavering support, we raised £20,000 last Ramadan, which directly impacted the lives of those in need.

Here is what we achieved last year:

•  Constructed 10 water pumps, providing clean water access.
•  Built 6 homes for families in need.
•  Covered the medical expenses for 10 individuals.
•  Fed over 150 people, spreading joy during the holy month.

As we celebrate our 11th anniversary, we've reflected on more than a decade of making a significant difference. Our efforts have gone beyond providing school meals, nurturing both educational and spiritual growth. This year, we're setting ourselves an ambitious target: to double our impact by raising £30,000.

With these funds, we aim to:

•  Construct 20 wells and 20 homes, significantly increasing our support for those in need.
•  Extend medical care to an additional 20 individuals.
•  Feed double the number of people compared to last year, aiming to reach over 300 individuals.

Leading our charity efforts with our dedicated team in Bangladesh, we're championing the values of empathy, generosity, and direct action. We invite you and your families to join us in this noble endeavour, striving to surpass our past achievements and make an even greater impact.

JazakumAllahu Khairan for your continued support and generosity. Together, let’s make this Ramadan a landmark of compassion and giving. May this Ramadan bring peace, health, and prosperity to you and your loved ones.

A Year of Ambition and Giving: Motivating Our Students
We are confident that this year, we will continue to excel and raise even more funds for this noble cause. We positively motivate our pupils to participate in the Ramadan charity drive by running a competition and awarding prizes to the students who raise the most money. Although there are 5 prizes, we consider all pupils as winners, mashallah!
Here are some of the results from the efforts of our pupils:

How To Get Involved With Ramadan Charity Drive 2024:
We are excited to have you join us in our Ramadan charity drive this year. To participate, please follow the steps below:
Step 1:
Collect a charity box and payment record sheet from your child's school to use for cash and online donation.

Encourage your child to put any amount of cash in the box each day to inspire them to do daily charity for the 30 days of Ramadan. Consider setting a target of £1 per day.

For all online donations, please update the payment record sheet each time an online donation is made.  This will help us keep track of the payments associated with your child's overall total raised.
Step 2:
Share the following message and payment link with your family and friends and request them to donate online to your campaign.
Assalamualaikum!

Ramadan Mubarak!

Step 3:
Hand the charity box along with the payment record sheet at the end of Ramadan.
What will your charity go towards:
Since 1999,  our family has been fortunate in supporting many causes in Bangladesh, particularly in the district of Sylhet. As our ethnic roots are in Sylhet, it was and has been  our priority to support and distribute aid to those  in close proximity to us. We have been helping  small villages by ensuring that the local people are taken care of in the following four key areas; food, clean water, shelter and medical treatment. With your help and donation, we can expand to more villages and have a greater impact inshaAllah.
Initiative 1: Serve the  hungry:
We invite you to join our mission of serving the hungry in Bangladesh by supporting our food aid program for the underprivileged. Your contribution can make a significant impact in providing nourishment and sustenance to those in need. Whether the hunger crisis is caused by the displacement of people's homes during the annual monsoon season, the daily hunger pangs experienced by the poor due to the rising cost of food, or simply due to poverty, our "Serve the Hungry" food aid program is committed to taking care of anyone suffering from hunger
Initiative 2: The 1000 Water Well Project
Our goal is to build 1000 water wells in Bangladesh to provide clean and safe drinking water to communities in need. So far, we have built 100 wells which is a significant achievement. With this ambitious goal, we can make a major contribution to improving the health, well-being, and quality of life of those in the communities served.

Initiative 3: Treat the sick
With zero healthcare infrastructure,  people have to pay for everything related to their health, from a simple checkup with the GP to more complex health conditions. Avoiding seeing a doctor is the norm in Bangladesh due to poverty and fear of the cost of treatment. Treat the sick initiative will ensure that funds are always available to anyone that needs any sort of medical treatment.

Initiative 4: Better Shelter
In Bangladesh, slums, makeshift dwellings, and overcrowded living conditions are the norm. Countless families struggle to find adequate shelter that offers even basic protection from the elements. These living conditions make life incredibly challenging for those affected, particularly vulnerable women and children.Through your support for the Better Shelter campaign, we aim to transform and build better housing for those struggling with poor and inadequate accommodation. Whether it's improving and extending poorly constructed housing or building new accommodation, we invite you to join us in our mission to provide Better Shelter for the poor.
